It is difficult here in Germany to find Indian kitchen appliances as we use them in our everyday cooking in India.
I struggled a lot during my first year in Germany when I did not bring any kitchen appliances from India. Indian gadgets were not available here when I first came to Germany. Nowadays those are available here, but very costly compare to other similar things.
So I thought I will share a list of appliances which you can find here at the average price range and can use for a better cooking experience.
I will make a list of the appliances, most of them are used by me at my home and others I used/saw at the different kitchens of friends.
Personally, I use a hand blender every day, for boiled dal we Gujaratis blend them before adding spices for a minute to make them consistent. We also drink homemade fresh masala buttermilk, a blender is also helpful to make it. A hand blender can also use to make a small amount of puree, for a large quantity you should not use a hand blender.
Who doesn’t love Dosa, Dhokla, Handvo, Khaman, Dahi vada, and these types of food, right?
But we need a good machine to grind them and it is difficult to find Indian style appliances to find here in Germany. So I tried this machine to grind lentils and rice and it did a wonderful work.
This can be also useful for making chutneys and homemade ginger, garlic or chili pest.
I love freshly squeezed orange Juice. Most of us do actually. These are very easy to use and clean for any (small or big) citrus family fruit.
I and my Husband prefer fresh fruits and vegetable juice rather than packaged. A slow juicer is really good if you want all nutrition from raw fruit or vegetables. But there is only one problem with a slow juicer: you have to cut fruits into small pieces and it works slowly as the name suggests. A normal centrifugal juicer is also a good thing if you are always in hurry and you want to have fresh juices. I actually tried both and they both did a good job, but I prefer a slow juicer. Only because the centrifugal juicer makes too much noise, so we chose a slow juicer.
Recently, Online stores started to sell Indian mixer grinders in Germany. Here are some of them from the positively reviewed sellers.
Havells 3 Jars 500W Mixer Grinder
Bajaj 500W Mixer Grinder with 3 Jars
Philips 750W 3 Jar Black Mixer Grinder
I hope this list can be helpful to you and this can make your cooking easier here in Foreign land. These are just my preferred kitchen appliances. There are many others available in the market to choose from.
If you have any suggestions or queries we will be happy to answer them. You can know about us here in detail.
